Barbell vs Dumbbells for Working Out

There is a very interesting question that I think everyone that has ever worked out in their life has thought about.  This question is should I lift with dumbbells or should I use a barbell.  There are pros and cons for each of these workouts and it is tough to say that one is better than the other.  Let's first start off by talking about dumbbells. Dumbbells Pros: I would say the biggest pro of dumbbells is that they are cheaper than a barbell because with a barbell you would have to buy all of the additional weights.   Also, they are easier to store than a barbell.  If you buy a set of adjustable weights, you could throw them in a corner where no one will see them. Wider range of motion than a barbell.  You have more flexibility to change what range of motion you are going to use. I personally think it is easier to change weight on the adjustable dumbbell than unloading all the plates on a barbell Cons: Lift less weight than a barbell.  Because each of these are using a single a

My story about Exercising Again and How I overcome the difficulties in front of me

This post is going to be a little bit different and tell the story of what happened to me and why I started to exercise.  I hope my story will push you to work out or show you how it is possible to lose weight. I think it is important to mention that in High School, I was always playing sports or working out so when Covid first hit I did not know what to do.  I was in college and was liked in our apartment with nothing to do.  So what do all college kids do?  We were playing video games all day and then on the weekends would start to drink.  These two things do not go well with each other when you are not having any sort of physical activity.  So, this was on for a few months, and I hadn't noticed any change until I stepped on the scale.  This was the heaviest I have ever been in my life and I was in really good shape at one point and was very muscular.  So I knew I had to do something about this.  Two things really motivated me to work out: I wanted to look good without a shirt o

Problems with Cheap Jump Ropes

I think one workout that oftentimes gets overlooked is jumping rope.  There is a reason if you have ever seen a boxer training, this is part of their workout regime.  However, a good jump rope is hard to find.  I have searched amazon for plenty of jump ropes, but I have not found any that have not broken after a few weeks for a reasonable price.  Yes, you can buy one of the jump ropes that cost $100 and they will work perfectly, but not all of us have a budget like that.  However, the worst jump rope that I have found is on amazon and it is  here .  This might have been the worst purchase of my life.  In the first few days of using this, the cable started to break at the bottom, and then the next thing I know the grip was falling off as well.  As well as this, the length you try to keep this jump rope at does not stay there and the screw on top broke for me within a week or two.       I see something like this as a huge problem because if there are no good jump ropes for a reasonable

Free Workout Apps Reviews

When looking through the google play store or apple store, there are hundreds of different workout apps that claim they are the best.  I cannot say that I have used all of them, but I have looked through a few of these apps and I want to give a review of three of my favorites that I have used so far.  These three apps are strong workout tracker gym log, Map my run by under armour, and home workout - no equipment.     Strong Workout Tracker Gym Log This was one of the first apps that I started to use when I began working out.  Although there is an upgraded version of this app, for what I use it for, all you need is the free version.  The first thing that I want to do is mention some pros and cons. PROS Very Simple Interface Easy to See Past Workouts Easy to Log workouts Can learn new exercises on this app Shows What weight you use for each exercise so you can look back on that CONS Does not have every exercise that I would like it to have Does not have all the features that are in the P
