There is a huge misconception in the world that the actors we see on TV or in movies are the way they look because they have access to better gyms, trainers, and diets than we do. I think a great example of how this misconception is wrong is by looking at the actor Charlie Hunnam. If you do not know who this is, he is probably best known for being King Arthur in King Arthur Legend of the Sword and also Jax Teller in Sons of Anarchy. The reason why I am bringing him up is that he does not have a trainer or use the fanciest weights. He said in multiple interviews that he works out by body weight. Some of the things that he does are:
- push-ups
- sit-ups
- squats
- planks
- wall sits
- dips
- twenty minutes of cardio
These are all workouts that don't require a gym. Now I want you to get a mental image of what you think he looks like, after you have done that just use a quick google search and look for him. He is a perfect example of what can be done with body weight alone.
The next thing that I want to look at about him is his diet. I think it is commonly known that if you want to get a good body you cannot eat McDonald's and chocolate for every meal. So it is important to look at what he eats for a day. One thing that he makes sure he eats is a lot of protein. So usually he has fruits and some eggs for breakfast, which is then followed by a protein shake. Then he will usually eat more protein for lunch and dinner which can be chicken breast or beef with some vegetables, brown rice, or even sweet potatoes. This is not a crazy expensive diet or something unfeasible for anyone to complete. Also, this is enough food that you will not be feeling hungry during the day.
The most important thing that we can learn from Charlie though is to make sure you get some type of workout in. In many of the articles you read about him, you will see that he was acting for 14-15 hours a day sometimes and would still find time to get his workout in. He got his physique by wanting it and I think that is an important lesson to learn.
